Tuesday preview: Racecard, analysis and tips for the Weatherbys Bank Handicap Chase at Warwick
THE Jumps season continues to sneak up on the tweed-clad purists and Warwick’s feature on Tuesday is a nice teaser.
A 0-140 handicap chase is nothing to turn your nose up at and plenty of big yards have hopes.
The three mile-one furlong chase could revolve around the revitalised Dr Robin, hunting his fifth win on the trot.
The nine-year-old sprung a 20-1 surprise at Cartmel in June and has not looked back since, shooting up 23lbs in the weights.
It is impossible to know if the handicapper has now caught up with the Peter Bowen chaser, but with three of those successes coming at Cartmel, he is opposable at the prices.
The talented but quirky Quarenta would be interesting, but his record fresh is worrying and this looks a starting point for bigger and better races later in the campaign.
The Welsh Paddies brings some good hurdles form to the table, but despite being backed as if defeat was out of the question on chase debut, didn’t appear to relish the switch to fences.
This track will suit better but in this better race his relative inexperience may come to haunt him when push comes to shove. This race has never been won by a novice in the four years it’s been on the calendar.
The consistent For Good Measure may again find one or two a bit good here, while Ballymalin can be passed over despite the handicapper beginning to relent.
The top weights Treackle Tart and Theclockisticking are the two that appeal most.

Treackle Tart’s record when fresh means she deserves plenty of respect here and she could be an each-way angle.
However, slight preference is for Stuart Edmunds’ THECLOCKISTICKING.
The seven-year-old’s best form is still over hurdles, but he has always looked like chasing will eventually bring out the best in him.
Ironically his jumping has let him down the last twice, but in these slightly calmer waters, hopefully the first-time cheekpieces can do the trick.
Edmunds is a talented trainer and the fact he has been favourite the last twice in a Listed chase and a Class 2 Handicap, suggests a big run is coming.
A mark of 135 is still workable when you look at his hurdles form and hopefully this translates to the larger obstacles sooner rather than later.
