In the backdrop of a long delay in appointment of Bombay HC judge Justice Akil A Kureshi as chief justice of an HC, the SC said “interference in such matters does not augur well for the institution." The SC collegium had recommended his appointment as MP HC chief justice but he was later transferred to the Bombay HC from the Gujarat HC.
