Fed well-positioned after two rate cuts: Evans
Chicago Fed President Charles Evans said Wednesday he doesn't see the need for more interest rate cuts at the moment, saying the two cuts over the last two months have the central bank "well-positioned" going forward, according to a Reuters report. Evans, who is a voting member of the Fed's interest-rate committee, said he will be open-minded about the need for further action depending on the data. The central bank is divided over the road ahead. Seven of 17 Fed officials think another rate cut this year would be appropriate.
