PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who attacked a Washington County Jail deputy after being arrested on a burglary charge will now spend more than 6 years in prison for his crimes.

Hayden Landry Davis was arrested February 20, 2019 after using a hammer to try and break into a Beaverton home. Davis hurt himself trying to break in and was found not far from the scene bleeding from his hand and wearing the same clothes the victim described.

Investigators said Davis later admitted to breaking the door and where he hid the hammer he used.

While he was in the Washington County Jail, Davis attacked a jail deputy during recreation time. The attack, caught on video, shows Davis come up behind the deputy and attack, hitting him in the face several times. The deputy fought back and soon got the upper hand with the help of other inmates.

In May 2017, Davis attacked a Washington County deputy while he was being arrested on an outstanding warrant. He took off running but was tracked down by Hillsboro Police K9 Blazer. The deputy in that incident suffered minor injuries.

Davis, who was on probation at the time of his February arrest, pleaded guilty to the deputy attack on September 17 and a jury convicted him of the burglary 2 days later.

Judge Andrew Erwin sentenced him to 6 years, 2 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections for the combination of crimes.
