Where: Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, Indiana
Betting Line / Total: Notre Dame -12.5 / 49.5 Points
The Fighting Irish put up a solid effort on the road against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs last week, falling short of an upset in a 23-17 loss as 16.5-point road underdogs. The loss was Notre Dame’s first regular season loss since November 25, 2017, breaking a 14-0 SU and 7-6-1 ATS regular season winning streak. Notre Dame gets each of its next three games at home with this matchup against Virginia followed by Bowling Green and USC.
In their last seven games against ACC opponents, the Fighting Irish are 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS according to the OddsShark College Football Database. The one loss was last year’s 30-3 postseason loss to Clemson.
Virginia had a bit more trouble with Old Dominion than it was expecting in a 28-17 win last Saturday as 27-point home favorites, but with the victory the Cavaliers improved to 5-0 SU and 3-1-1 ATS over their last five games.
The Cavaliers recorded their first winning season since 2011 last season under third-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall, and the team is well on its way to another winning record in 2019. Virginia still has work to do though with a 2-20 SU record in its last 22 road games against teams with winning records.
Virginia vs. Notre Dame Betting Total
Saturday’s total is set at 49.5 points. The UNDER is 5-1 in Notre Dame’s last six games.
By keeping the score respectable against Georgia, the Fighting Irish still have a slight chance at making the playoffs if they win out. They’ll be looking for style points the rest of the way, so don’t look for them to take their foot off the gas if they have the chance to score a blowout win against a ranked team on Saturday.
