At this point, even if the powers-that-be in Chicago had a come-to-Jesus moment and decided that Joe Maddon was, indeed, the right person for the Cubs’ managerial position in 2020 and beyond, it would be hard to justify keeping him, based on their actions and the team’s performance over the past calendar year.
