The majority leader of the U.S. Senate has abandoned the constitutional structure of our government by surrendering the legislative authority of that body to enact common-sense gun legislation. To suggest that the legislative process on gun issues should wait on some indication of the President’s willingness to sign the legislation totally disregards the basic structure of our system of legislative government.
