[Men's Soccer] Knights early goal not enough to top Reinhardt Eagles
LAURINBURG, NC –The St. Andrews men's soccer team hosted Reinhardt University on Saturday afternoon, falling in the conference game 2-0.
How It Happened:
St. Andrews got on the board within the first two minutes of play, when Chris Taylor knocked in a header assisted by Ruben Vaca.
Reinhardt put pressure on the Knights throughout the first half, causing goalkeeper Valentino Parini to save 6 shots on goal, compared to SAU's two shots that were saved by the Eagles.
The Eagles found their rhythm in the second half, pocketing a goal in the 54th minute and the 71st while keeping the Knights quiet.
The two goals would be enough for the Eagles to take the win, 2-1, over the Knights.
Knights Leaders:
Chris Taylor was the only Knight to connect with the net, while Ruben Vaca collected an assist and a shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Valentino Parini had 11 saves against the Eagles, 6 in the first half and 5 in the second.
