Tuesday preview: Racecard, analysis and tips for the Hogmanay Ball Handicap
THE recent rain has won a best supporting role up at Ayr and it will take a proper mudlark to to triumph in the day’s feature.
Michael Dods’ ever-popular 7f specialist GET KNOTTED is the star on show in the 0-90 handicap at 4.20.
The veteran certainly has solid claims, too, with his last-time-out third in the Ayr Silver Cup leaving him nicely primed for this.
The step up to 7f is no problem given he’s mostly campaigned over this longer trip these days and he performs well in the ground.
A mark of 89 still leaves him well below some of his old form and, dropping in grade here, he has very solid claims.
His biggest danger arguably comes in the form of Irish raider Sagittarius Rising, who’d been out of form prior to his fine runner-up effort at Listowel last time when he was sent off favourite.
He’ll also be at home in the ground, as will Young Fire, who scraped home from a progressive sprinter at Haydock last month.
Quirky Gertie, second at Hamilton yesterday, also has claims if turned out quickly, while top-weight Redarna should appreciate the return to softer ground.
Tommy G is nicely handicapped but hasn’t been in form for a good while and the same comments apply to Wasntexpectingthat.
Kapono, Fuente, Nubough and Howzer Black are all likely to be up against it.
