A well-deserved honor for the Cincinnati 3B.

Eugenio Suarez swatted and bashed baseball at a prolific rate for most of the entire 2019 MLB season, but provided a particular proclivity for punching baseballs over outfield walls during the month of September.

In the process, he entered the record books, as he ended his year with 49 total homers - the most ever in a single-season by a player born in Venezuela as well as the most ever by an NL 3B in one calendar campaign. His torrid finish earned him the National League Player of the Month Award for September, too, as the Cincinnnati Reds announced on Twitter earlier on Monday.

Suarez’s .747 slugging percentage in the month was the single best among qualified NL hitters, his 10 dingers trailing only Pete Alonso of the New York Mets. Suarez also led all NL hitters in wOBA (.482), wRC+ (199), OBP (.455), and ISO (.410) for the month, making his nod a pretty obviously deserved one.

Suarez, of course, becomes the second straight winner of this award for the Reds, as August saw the breakout of Aristides Aquino warrant the young slugger the appropriate dap.

Congrats on a brilliant month - and season - Geno.
