Mohamed Salah makes it 77 goals since joining Liverpool – only Messi and Lewandowski have more in that time
MOHAMED SALAH has now scored 77 goals since joining Liverpool – with only Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski netting more in that time.
The Egyptian star, 27, found the back of the net twice in a frenetic game at Anfield as his red-hot stint on Merseyside rages on.
The Reds stormed to a 3-0 lead early in the first-half, with Salah scoring his side’s third, with a real poacher’s effort.
But after Red Bull Salzburg stormed back to make it 3-3, leaving the Kop stunned, it was up to Salah to salvage the win, as he poked home what turned out to be the winner.
His two goals took his tally to 77 goals in all competitions in a little over two years.
Salah has now notched more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo, to sit third in the list of Big Five league players.
Only Messi (96) and Lewandowski (95) are above him in the standings.
Two years ago, Liverpool paid just £34.3million to land Salah – a move perceived to be a gamble after his sub-par spell at Chelsea only a year earlier, having left Stamford Bridge for good in 2016.
Suddenly though, it’s looking like the best bit of business in the world, with Salah transforming Liverpool’s attack, along with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
