Friday preview: Racecard, analysis and tips for the Listed Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot
IT’S back to Berkshire for Friday’s feature as the three-year-olds take to the turf in the Listed Noel Murless at Ascot.
All eyes will be on the progressive Hereby, bidding to land her fourth race on the bounce for trainer Ralph Beckett.
The daughter of Pivotal has a bit to find on ratings but she’s progressing at a rate of knots and should relish this step up to 1m6f.
Beckett has had six winners in the last fortnight and is a master with his fillies, so it would be no surprise to see her take the rise in grade in her stride.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Almania has threatened to be useful for some time now and has a decent chance with Ryan Moore in the plate, for all that this is a slight step up in grade.
He’s been contesting some valuable handicaps of late, though, and may appreciate the return to a smaller field.
Of the rest, Cap Francais would have strong claims if reproducing some of his form from earlier in the season.
He’s found life tough since his runner-up effort in the Epsom Derby trial but is not discounted under the in-form Jamie Spencer.
Just Hubert won nicely in a lower grade last time and has a steadily progressive profile for William Haggas, who wouldn’t be throwing his colt into Listed company for no reason.
Top-rated in the race is I’ll Have Another, who looked thoroughly unsuited by the dreadful conditions at Goodwood last time.
If bouncing back to the form of his Newmarket win in August, he clearly has major claims.

Sapa Inca is another progressive filly who has claims in receipt of weight, and the same comment applies to Tribal Craft.
However, they’ll all have to go some to catch HEREBY, who has the most progressive profile in the field and who is expected to be suited by the step up to a staying trip.
