Duke offers Jaemyn Brakefield

Jaemyn Brakefield, the 6-foot-8 forward from Huntington Prep (WV) and Phenom University AAU, picked up an offer from Duke on Wednesday when Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski called him.

“He called me last night,” Brakefield said. “I’m speechless.”

Brakefield said he “definitely will visit Duke.”

The Blue Devils currently have a three-man recruiting class of guards D.J. Steward and Jeremy Roach and forward Henry Coleman.

Brakefield’s recently taken official visits to Auburn and Louisville. He heads to Ole Miss (Oct. 18). Michigan coach Juwan Howard saw him this week, while Virginia’s Tony Bennett was in Sept. 24.

This year on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Brakefield averaged 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 17 games played.

According to 247Sports, Brakefield is ranked No. 38 nationally and is the No. 6 power forward.
