[Volleyball] Hope International Keeps Hawks Grounded

The SDC women's volleyball team was swept 3-0 on Saturday night, with scores of (18-25, 10-25, 21-25).  With the loss, SDC drops to 0-9 in GSAC play.

In the first set, the Royals got off to a quick 6-0 start, but the Hawks answered back with a nice run of their own to make it 17-14 until HIU got back on track late in the set.

As the second set began the Hawks were down 9-4. The Royals made a big run in the middle of the set to break it open 22-10, eventually winning 25-10.

The third set brought with it a closer back and forth game, with the biggest lead being by four. SDC showed a great fight but it was not enough to force a 4th set. 

Anekka Guy led the team with 11 kills. Ariana Velasquez (15) and Jewel McDonough (11) were in double digits in assists. 

The Hawks will be on the road next week as they travel up north to compete against GSAC opponents William Jessup and Menlo College.
