Live updates: Raiders vs. Bears in London on Sunday morning
Join us for live scoring updates, news and analysis Sunday morning as the Raiders’ Europeans trip takes them to London for a battle with the Chicago Bears and onetime Raiders star Khalil Mack.
GAME ESSENTIALS: Raiders (2-2) vs. Chicago (3-1) in London on Sunday at 10 a.m. (PT)
TV: FOX-TV, Dick Stockton (play-by-play), Mark Schlereth (analyst), Jennifer Hale (reporter).
ODDS: Bears -5.5 (opened at Bears -6). OVER/UNDER: 40.5 (opened at 41).
SERIES: All-time series tied at 7-7. LAST MEETING: Bears won 22-20 in Oakland on Oct. 4, 2015.
WHY RAIDERS COULD WIN: They’ll get to face a backup quarterback in Chase Daniel, who’ll take over for injured starter Mitch Trubisky (dislocated left shoulder, labraum tear). Daniel has started just four games in his 10-year career and he’ll likely be a game manager on Sunday as coach Matt Nagy looks to rely on his defense to beat Oakland. With Trubisky, the Bears have been second-to-last in the NFL in offensive yardage per game (273) and 29th in average points scored (16.5). … Running back Josh Jacobs has been the top rookie in the NFL thus far and his elusiveness could prove valuable against the aggressive Bears in both the passing and running game. … Tight end Darren Waller could also be an X factor as he’s proven difficult for teams to defend. A couple of big plays down the field would open things up for the offense.
WHY BEARS COULD WIN: Four words: Khalil Mack Vindication Game. Mack is still stung by the Raiders trading him a little over a year ago, when coach Jon Gruden decided Mack wasn’t worth the kind of money it would take to sign him to a new contract. All eyes will be on No. 52 for the Bears, who’ll be getting plenty of attention by the Raiders’ offensive line. … Even with a backup quarterback leading its offense, Chicago has to be heartened by the fact Oakland is last in the league in pressuring quarterbacks. The Raiders have just three sacks, one less than Mack has amassed this season — potentially making things easy for Daniel.
RAIDERS NEXT GAME: at Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. (PT).
