Gary Lineker reacts as Man City defeat leaves Liverpool FC eight points clear
Gary Lineker took to social media to joke that it’s time for “Pep Out” after Manchester City’s surprise 2-0 loss to Wolves left Liverpool FC eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table heading into the international break.
Liverpool FC secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon to continue their brilliant 100 per cent record in the Premier League this season.
That victory lifted the Reds eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who hosted Wolves at The Etihad on Sunday.
After a goalless first half in front of their home fans, Manchester City went 1-0 behind when Adama Traore fired home in the 80th minute.
And Traore made it 2-0 in the 94th minute to seal a shock result and send the Citizens crashing to their second Premier League defeat of the season.
The result leaves Liverpool FC eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table heading into the second international break of the season.
And England legend Lineker offered his reaction on Twitter as the final whistle was blown, writing: “Pep Out.”
In a separate tweet, he added: “Surely it’s Liverpool’s title now. It’s not like they’ve given up substantial leads before.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they travel to Old Trafford to take on arch rivals Manchester United.
The Reds are still looking to win their first Premier League title after having finished a point behind champions Manchester City last term.
