Morrison Bridge reopens following drawbridge malfunction

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Morrison Bridge is back open after being closed most of the morning due to a malfunction during a drawbridge test on Sunday.
According to the Multnomah County Communications Office, the drawbridge did not fully close at the end of the test around 7:30 a.m, with one leaf remaining about a foot above the other.
This test happens every week that the bridge doesn’t have to open for a ship.
MCCO advised commuters to use other Portland bridges while the Morrison was closed throughout the morning — but other bridge closures connected to the Portland Marathon made things messy.
After the marathon, Multnomah County Bridges tweeted the bridge will “likely need to close in the afternoon for additional repairs.”
