Masked burglar stabbed shopkeeper to death for the sake of £100 in the till during a ‘one-man crimewave’
A BURGLAR killed a shopkeeper for the sake of £100 in the till during a “one-man crimewave”.
Alex Gunn, 31, was caught on CCTV stabbing Ravi Katharkamar, 54, shortly after the trader had opened his store.
A jogger found him and called 999 but Ravi died at the scene in Pinner, North-West London, in March.
The shopkeeper had suffered two knife wounds, one of which fractured a rib and punctured his lung and heart.
Masked Gunn made off with the till, containing a float of £100, and fled in a stolen Vauxhall Astra.
The Old Bailey heard Gunn had been responsible for a string of burglaries and thefts, all to fund his drug habit.
Prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones QC said Gunn was “sufficiently savvy” to cover himself with a balaclava during the attack on Mr Katharkamar.
