Reaching your 100th birthday is a milestone for anyone, but becoming a centenarian comes with a royal seal of approval.

The Queen, 93, personally signs a birthday card to anyone about to blow out one hundred candles.
It’s seen as the crowning glory for marking a century of birthdays, but the Queen revealed she fears the cards won’t make it in time for the big day.
The monarch voiced her concern during a visit to the Haig Housing development, in south London, where she met with several veterans.
Among them was ‘Dambuster’, Ken Souter, who clutched his birthday card from the monarch as he met her in person.

Ken, 100, flew with the RAF in Africa during the Second World War, and he also piloted one of the four Lancaster bombers in the 1955 film The Dam Busters.
He showed the Queen, who wore a cornflower blue dress with matching coat from designer Angela Kelly, the telegram she had recently signed.
She told him she was “glad to see” the card had found its rightful owner, adding she’s “always worried” it might not be delivered on time.

You can apply for a card on your 100th birthday, 105th birthday and every year after that.
And couples are also recognised, with wedding anniversaries of 60, 65, 70 and every year after that warranting a card.
During her visit the Queen met with a number of veterans who had completed the 100-mile walk from Ypres to London – called The Long Walk Home – marking the centenary of the end of the First World War.
She’s been a patron of Haig Housing, the world’s largest military charity, since 1952.
