Coronation Street spoilers: Rapist Josh is stabbed in prison riot – but David denies it was him
DAVID Platt will face his biggest test yet in Coronation Street next week as a riot breaks out in prison.
David – who’s played by Jack P Shepherd in the ITV soap – retreats to his cell but is stunned when new friend Abe drags a terrified Josh Tucker in.
He hands David a pair of scissors and tells him to do his worst. But what will David do?
Later, as David’s horrified family watch the riot unfold on the news, David tells Abe that he wants to deal with rapist Josh alone.
With help from Abe and Tez, David drags Josh (Ryan Clayton) to the top of a staircase.
David’s fiancée Shona Ramsay (Julia Goulding) is left horrified when he calls her and tells her that Josh has been stabbed and she needs to find him a lawyer.
Has David attacked Josh?
When Shona speaks to David later in the week, she’s doubtful when he denies having any involvement with Josh’s attack.
He swears to her that the assault on Josh – who’s in prison for drugging and raping someone – had nothing to do with him.
But when Max shows Shona a video someone has sent him of the riot, she clearly sees Josh collapsing from a stab wound while David is situated nearby. A stunned Shona reels.
Later, Max recognises Josh in the video and wonders if it was David who attacked him while Shona and Sarah secretly wonder the same thing.

When David calls Shona from prison, he’s horrified to learn that Max has seen the video but is adamant it was nothing to do with him. Shona is left feeling unsure about what to believe.
Imran Habeeb pays David a visit in prison and tells him about the video which Is doing the rounds and how it clearly implicates him in Josh’s assault.
Is David looking at an even longer stint behind bars?
Josh caused controversy on the cobbles last year when he drugged and raped David on a lads’ night out.
David fell to pieces after the attack but finally admitted to Shona what had happened after Aidan Connor took his own life.
