Distressing pics show malnourished kids in Yemen as it’s revealed there are 790 million people starving people in the world while 820 million battle obesity
SCORES of babies and children in poor countries like Yemen, and all over the world are facing a daily battle with hunger.
New figures from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations show that shockingly, over 820 million people worldwide are going hungry – while in stark contrast 790 people battle obesity.
Yemen, one of the poorest countries in the world and complicated by the past five years of ongoing clashes, currently faces “food insecurity” among other humanitarian crises.
Food insecurity raises concerns about “acute hunger” caused by high levels of malnutrition and “unhealthy nutrition,” which increases the risks of illness and death.
New shocking figures show that one in nine people globally face similar issues, daily wondering where their next meal will come from – and if they will even get to eat that day.
As hunger rises, malnutrition and other complications increase, putting a strain on poorer countries already limited resources – like children being treated with limited facilities at Sabeen Hospital in Yemen.
Figures also reveal that at the same time as the food crisis, 790 million people struggle with obesity, with 120 million of them children.
