Looney, who suffered a right hamstring injury during training camp, has yet to play a preseason game and now his status for the opener against Houston on Oct. 24 is in question.
He’ll miss Wednesday’s game in Los Angeles against the Lakers as well as the preseason finale at Chase Center on Friday.
If neither Looney nor Willie Cauley-Stein (sprained foot) are able to go on opening night, Golden State’s choices at center appear to be Omari Spellman or Marquese Chriss, assuming he makes the 14-man roster.
