Many Brexit scenarios still possible says French EU chief as deadline date looms

A DEAL on Britain’s orderly withdrawal from the European Union is still possible but the bloc must also prepare for a no deal Brexit and an extension of the divorce process, France’s EU affairs minister, Amélie de Montchalin, has said. Mme de Montchalin told France Inter radio: “We are working on a deal, but not just any deal under any conditions. We’re not going to put this to bed after three and a half years [of talks] during which we set out simple principles: peace in Ireland, fair competition and a balanced post-Brexit relationship.”
