[Women's Soccer] Rio Grande Prevails over the Bearcats
The Brescia women's soccer team suffered an unfortunate River States Conference loss at home against the Rio Grande Red Storm on Monday, October 14, 0-5.
The Bearcats competed with the Red Storm stride-for-stride throughout the majority of the first half, before giving up one goal with approximately 12 minutes left in the half. Brescia went into halftime trailing Rio Grande, 0-1.
"In the first half we did a much better job of moving the ball. We've been working on moving as a unit and we did a better job of that in the first half," said Head Coach David Ralph.
Despite the Bearcats numerous shots on goal, the team was unable to convert any of its attempts into goals. "We started off the second half and we were putting pressure all over them, and then all of sudden we gave up two goals within three minutes and that just deflated us," explained Ralph.
Kassi Gilbert (SR, Lebanon Junction, Ky.) led the Bearcats in shots on goal with five, while Jordan Blemker (SR, Oakland City, Ind.) and Bobbi Sandifer (FR, Owensboro, Ky.) each had one. Goalkeeper Savannah Jackson (SO, Bardstown, Ky.) led the team with 15 saves.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 19, against RSC opponenent Cincinnati Christian University at Kamuf park at 1:00 p.m., which will serve as the team's Senior Night.
