Rachel Brosnahan is going for an incredibly rare three-peat at the Golden Globes
In January, Rachel Brosnahan became the first person in 10 years to win back-to-back Golden Globes for Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress. Now, the “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star is trying to achieve an even more impressive Globes feat: a three-peat.
Brosnahan could join Sarah Jessica Parker as the only people who’ve won this award for three consecutive years. A Globes darling, Parker dominated from 2000-02 and added a fourth win in 2004. She has the second most awards in the category behind Carol Burnett, who claimed five for “The Carol Burnett Show,” but without a three-peat in the mix (1968, ’70, ’72, ’77-78).

The only other people who’ve taken home at least three prizes are Cybill Shepherd and Helen Hunt, but they too never had a three-in-a-row streak. Shepherd won two for “Moonlight” (1986-87) and a third a decade later for “Cybill” (1996). She is the one who interrupted Hunt’s run for “Mad About You” (1994-95, ’97).
Brosnahan will have her work cut out for her in order to claim a third Globe. She has to contend with Emmy champ/toast of the town Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), who currently leads our early odds. And unlike last go-around, Brosnahan, who’s in third in our odds, might find herself up against some folks from brand new shows, a Hollywood Foreign Press Association favorite. Our predictions have Kirsten Dunst (“On Becoming a God in Central Florida”), Natasha Lyonne (“Russian Doll”) and Hailee Steinfeld (“Dickinson”) making it in for their freshman series.
If that does turn out to be the lineup, then Brosnahan would be the oldie of the group, contending for an ancient (to the HFPA) third-year show. Midge will definitely need some of that Carrie Bradshaw magic to pull off three in a row.
