Bernd Leno has worst clean sheet record of ANY Arsenal keeper in the Premier League

0

BERND LENO is the owner of the worst clean sheet record of ANY Arsenal goalkeeper in Premier League history.

The Gunners’ No1 has managed to keep a clean just once every FIVE games, with no other goalkeeper in the club’s recent history boasting a record worse than three.

Leno sits miles behind Seaman and Lehmann in terms of games per clean sheet

Arsenal goalkeepers: Games per clean sheet (PL)

Alex Manninger – 2.1
David Ospina – 2.3
David Seaman – 2.4
Manuel Almunia – 2.5
Lukasz Fabianski – 2.6
Jens Lehmann – 2.7
Wojciech Szczesny – 2.8
Petr Cech – 2.8
BERND LENO – 4.9

This season, Arsenal have lost just once from their eight games as they sit third in the standings.

However, they have shipped 11 goals already – the second-worst record in the top eight of the Premier League.

Leno, 27, has started all eight matches managing just two clean sheets – in 1-0 wins over Newcastle and Bournemouth.

The German’s clean sheet tally is a sky-high one every 4.9 matches – streets behind all of his eight predecessors.

Petr Cech holds the second-worst record at a clean sheet every 2.8 games – level with Wojciech Szczesny.

Manuel Almunia (2.5), Lukasz Fabianski (2.6) and Jens Lehmann (2.7) all sit in the middle of the pack.

But it’s Alex Manninger (2.1) who leads the way, ahead of David Ospina (2.3) and David Seaman (2.4).

But it’s hardly Leno’s fault – after all, he’s made the most saves in the Premier League this season, with 34 – ahead of North London rival Hugo Lloris (30).

Arsenal’s biggest issue lies in defence, forced into a back-four of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac for much of the season.

Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney are slowly coming back from injury, along with Rob Holding – which will be a huge boost for Unai Emery.

But Arsenal simply must work out their defensive issues if they harbour any hopes of breaking back into the top four after years away.
