Selma Blair’s son said he wanted her cremated if she died during chemotherapy that ‘nearly killed her’ for MS battle
SELMA Blair has revealed that she and her eight-year-old son made plans for her death before she started a radical course of chemotherapy that she hopes will cure her MS.
Selma, 47, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year and made the decision to have a stem cell transplant due to the pain and physical difficulties she was experiencing.
The Cruel Intentions actress is hopeful the transplant will restart her immune system, eradicating her MS, however she has had to endure an extremely high dose of chemo as part of the treatment.
Speaking at the TIME 100 Health Summit in New York, Selma revealed that the level of chemotherapy used “almost kills you”, so she had to discuss the worst with her son Arthur.
And according to People, Selma told the audience that Arthur made the heartbreaking announcement that he would like his mum cremated.
She said: “I was warned. You kind of make your plans for death, [and] I told my son I was doing this and he said he wanted me cremated.
“I had more chemo than they usually do for cancer patients, because they almost kill you.
“And it’s the stem cell that allows you to live with that amount of chemo.
“The chemo is the MS cure, if it does in fact happen.”
Selma went on to tell the summit that, although the treatment went smoothly, she has not recovered enough yet to tell whether it has worked or not.
Selma was told by doctors in August 2018 that she was suffering from the incurable autoimmune disease MS.
The Hollywood star’s symptoms of pain and muscle weakness then came on hard and fast after her diagnosis, meaning she soon needed a walking stick and walking bike.
Selma soon made the decision to undergo the stem cell transplant and accompanying aggressive chemo after “running out of options”.

In July, Selma bravely posed for a picture with her walking bike and bald head after completing her course of intense treatment.
The mum-of-one lost her hair as a result, so shaved her head entirely, and revealed she would have a compromised immune system for three months.
But she said at the time: “This is the best gift I could give to Arthur. #newimmunesystem#whodis?”
