He and Meghan released emotional publicity clips for Sunday night’s ITV programme on their Africa tour during William and Kate’s visit to Pakistan.

Royal aides from Kensington Palace had tried to stop the clips being shown during the Cambridge’s highly successful trip.

But Harry and Meghan’s aides ignored them, wanting the maximum publicity for the couple.

The programme “Harry and Meghan: An African Journey” was trailed on Tuesday with clips released yesterday and today.

In the latest clip, tearful Meghan complains that life as a new Royal has been a “struggle” and that “not many people” have asked if she is “OK” as a new mum.

Royal protocol normally states that when a senior royal is on tour overseas, representing the Queen and British Government, their work should take precedence and no other royal should take precedence.

GRAB FOR THE LIMELIGHT

William and Kate’s aides were said to be “furious” over Harry and Meghan’s grab for the limelight.

A source said: “Why are they doing this now?

“It’s ridiculous.

“It looks like they are deliberately trying to sabotage the Pakistan tour by wanting the attention on them.

“That documentary could have been aired at any time – why the week when the Cambridges are on tour?”

In the ITV documentary that was filmed during the Sussexes’ tour of Southern Africa last month, Meghan reveals she has struggled in the spotlight.

BROTHERS’ RIVALRY

She tells ITV’s Tom Bradby: “Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a new born – you know…”

“And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed it’s, well…

“And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Asked by Bradby if “it’s really been a struggle?”, Meghan replies:  “Yes.”

Aides have always tried to play down any rivalry between the brothers ever since Harry broke away from his brother’s Kensington Palace Household.

He wanted to set up his own court but dad Charles and the Queen overruled him and made him part of the Buckingham Palace operation, so they could keep an eye on him.

And while William, 37, is preparing to be the next Prince or Wales and one day King, Harry, 34, is taking on the British press after he said and his wife, 38, had been victimised.

Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, is on this Sunday at 9pm on ITV1.
