[Volleyball] Women's Volleyball Falls in Five against OUAZ
LA MESA, Calif. – The SDC women's volleyball team won the first and fourth set to force the extra in a match against OUAZ.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, they were unable to overcome the Spirit's early lead and fell 3-2 (24-26, 25-23, 25-15, 13-25, 15-9).
The loss drops SDC to 3-17 on the season and 0-13 in conference.
SDC looked like they were going to start the match off down 1-0 but they scored 3-straight points to down the Spirit 26-24 in the first set. Anekka Guy tallied a kill and two service aces for the final three points.
The Spirit answered with a 3-0 closing run in set two to tie the match 1-1 and later took set three handedly for the 2-1 lead.
In the fourth, SDC came out to a modest 7-4 lead. Then the Spirit rolled out 6-straight points or a 10-7 lead. But for the Hawks, the ended the game on an 18-3 run to see another set against OUAZ. Guy scored the final two points with two kills.
Any momentum the Hawks had in the fourth set was quickly erased in the fifth set. The Spirit started off the extra set on a 7-1 run. The Hawks were only to get within five points the rest of the way as OUAZ took the 5-set match.
The Hawks travel to Westmont on Oct. 25 before heading to The Master's on Oct. 26.
