The ex-University of Oregon football player can be seen taking the gun and handing it to another teacher.
Lowe can be seen wrapping Granados-Diaz in a bear hug at Parkrose High School in Portland, US.
The video shows the young man in a highly distressed state as both men then walk down the corridor and out of the school building.
No shots were fired.
According to The Oregonian, the teenager, who was 18 at the time and has mental health problems, wanted to kill himself after he split up with his girlfriend.
Granados-Diaz went into school because he did not want his mum to find his dead body in the family home.
His lawyer claimed he had thought about killing himself in the school’s bathroom, but decided to go to a classroom because then someone would call 911 immediately.
After Granados-Diaz was threatening to kill himself in the classroom, Lowe dashed to help.
He has since been hailed as a hero for his bravery.
The day after the incident on May 17, Keanon tweeted: “When confronted with the test the universe presented me with, I didn’t see any other choice but to act.
“Thank God, I passed. I’ve spent the last 24 hours being more appreciative of my family and realising we have a serious problem.”
