Washougal laundromat up in flames after sheets catch fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Washougal laundromat went up in flames after a pile of sheets caught fire early Sunday morning.
A total of 11 firetrucks were called to the scene at Riverside Laundry on 4th Street, the first of which arrived around 12:45 a.m. A second alarm was called for the fire as crews could see smoke and flames growing from the building.
In the investigation, it was discovered that a pile of sheets had spontaneously combusted — leading to a fire that spread to the rest of the laundromat.
There were ultimately no injuries, but the building — and everything inside of it — was determined to be a “total loss,” according to the Clark County Fire Marshal’s office. The damage estimate is around $150,000.
