Raiders’ Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson carted off field with injury
Just when the Raiders finally had their starting offensive line together, center Rodney Hudson was carted off the field with a right ankle injury Sunday.
With guard Gabe Jackson’s return in Houston, the Raiders’ offensive line was intact for the first time this season, but that lasted just 10 plays. That’s when their Pro Bowl center Hudson went down and was seen grabbing his lower leg during a short DeAndre Washington running play.
Hudson was declared out for the remainder game by the Raiders at halftime after initially listing him as questionable to return.
Hudson hadn’t missed a snap this season before the injury and backup Andre James took over for him at center. James, an undrafted free agent from UCLA, had never played center in his life before training camp this summer. However, he looked solid in his first few series.
Teamed with tackles Trent Brown and Kolton Miller, along with guards Jackson and Richie Incognito, Hudson is the leader of what many feel is one of the NFL’s top offensive lines.
Meanwhile, the Raiders also lost defensive lineman Josh Mauro (groin) in the first half and he was declared out at halftime.
