Henson suffered the injury in his first game back for a long layoff.

In a press release sent out on Sunday, the Cavs announced that center John Henson would miss the next 2-4 weeks with a right hamstring strain. Henson suffered the injury on Saturday in the Cavs’ win over the Pacers in his first game as a Cavalier. He had not played for the Cavs due to injuries since being acquired last season.

Per the Cavs, Henson will not travel with the team to Milwaukee for Monday’s game against the Bucks. Against the Pacers, he played eight minutes, scored three points and nabbed three rebounds.

This a bummer for Henson. He just got healthy ahead of this season and then was injured for most of training camp. And, in a contract year no less, he gets hurt again and put on the shelf.

For the team, it’ll be interesting to see how the Cavs approach their rotation. Rookie Dylan Windler is expected back soon from an injury and is likely to get minutes. Since Henson is out, that could mean he enters the rotation and Cleveland plays more small ball. If that’s successful, maybe Henson is on the outside looking in when he’s back. The same logic would apply to Ante Zizic, who is also for the next few weeks.

Henson, though, is the Cavs’ best rim protector and played fairly well in his return. Perhaps this will just be a short setback.
