Normal Red Line service resumes after reroute due to reports of smoke at Grand

By 5:57 a.m., Red Line service was being rerouted to elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown., according to the CTA.

CTA Red Line subway trains are resuming normal service after an earlier reroute because of reports of smoke Monday morning at a station in River North.

Trains were halted about 5:50 a.m. because of reports of smoke at the Grand station, 521 N. State St., according to service alerts from the CTA. By 5:57 a.m., Red Line service was being rerouted to elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown.

Normal service resumed with residual delays by 6:05 a.m., according to the CTA.
