Ex-Spurs star Van der Vaart messaged Daniel Levy begging him to sign Ajax midfield sensation Hakim Ziyech
EX-TOTTENHAM star Rafael van der Vaart has urged his former club to sign Ajax midfield sensation Hakim Ziyech.
And ex-Holland star VdV said he has sent a personal message to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy telling him to snap up the Morocco international next summer.
Ziyech, 26, has hit seven goals in 17 games for the Eredivisie champions this season.
He inspired the Amsterdam club to a domestic double last term, scoring 21 times in 49 appearances.
He would be a natural replacement for Christian Eriksen, with the Dane set to leave North London.
Liverpool and Arsenal have recently shown interest in Ziyech, who is under contract until 2022.
He scored in Ajax’s 4-0 win over arch-rivals Feyenoord on Sunday.
Afterwards Van der Vaart said: “I really hope that Ziyech goes to Tottenham Hotspur, and I mean it.
“I sent Daniel Levy a message earlier today. I told him to get Ziyech once the season is over.
“I am convinced that he will be a sensation in London, and I also hope he gets a move over there.”
Ziyech appeared to cut a surly figure after being substituted late in the game.
HE WOULD SELL OUT STADIUM
Van der Vaart, speaking to Dutch broadcaster NOS, added: “That would make no difference to me if I was his manager.
“You know how clubs think. They always want players who are ideal son-in-law material.
“But as far as I’m concerned, what could go wrong? He would sell out the stadium.
