Chief Sports Writer for the Mail on Sunday Oliver Holt has jumped to Granit Xhaka’s defence after the midfield’s controversial reaction to Arsenal fans on Sunday.

If ever there was an example of how not to react to boos from your home crowd, it was Xhaka’s. The Gunners captain was jeered as he slowly meandered off the pitch at Emirates Stadium, which admittedly isn’t a particularly pleasant thing to happen, but there are certain ways to go about things when you’re in the public eye and he definitely should’ve counted to ten before deciding to cup his ears and goad the crowd further.
