Thursday preview: Racecard, analysis and tips for the 2.30 Fleur De Lys at Lingfield
IT’S a cracking card at Lingfield, with two Listed races and an ultra-competitive handicap heading the fare.
We’ve had a look through the prestigious Fleur De Lys, a contest that sees 12 runners go to post for the £22,000 prize.
In a very competitive Listed contest, it’s great to see Aidan O’Brien send over Coral Beach – and she’d certainly have claims on her fine fourth in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot.
Although not as good since, she’s been plying her trade in stronger grades and will be a force at this level.
One that may have her measure, though, is PREENING.
James Fanshawe has a cracking record on the all-weather and the last time his four-year-old took to the polytrack, she was only just beaten in a similar contest.
She warmed up for this nicely with a good second in Group 3 company last time over a trip short of her best and she’s bagged a good draw, so this could be the time to catch her.
2.30 Lingfield selection
2.30 Lingfield – Preening (Bet now)
Jason Watson is an eye-catching jockey booking and she can improve her form figures on synthetics to 121.
Breathtaking Look carries a penalty for her Group 3 success during Leger week (when she beat Preening) and that could leave her a little vulnerable at the weights now, for all that she has a progressive profile.
Chaleur had been in fine form prior to a slightly disappointing effort in this company at Newmarket last time.
If back to her two-year-old form then she’d have a big shout, but for now she needs to prove she’s up to this level.
She’s Got You has obvious claims for John Gosden, having finished a fine second in Listed company last time.
She’s improving rapidly and must not be underestimated, and the same comments apply to Crossing The Line, whose second to Billesdon Brook in June looks very strong form.
However, they may all struggle to catch Preening.
