‘Hopefully’: Solskjaer drops hint about Rashford ahead of Bournemouth v Man United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping that Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire will be fit for Manchester United’s trip to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
The trio all sustained knocks during the 2-1 victory over Chelsea FC in the League Cup fourth round on Wednesday night and they will now undergo late fitness tests to see if they are ready for the trip to the Vitality Stadium or not.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday morning, Solskjaer said that it was “too early” for him to be able to confirm whether Rashford and the two defenders would be ready for the Premier League clash.
Asked whether the trio are fit to play, Rashford said: “They had treatment yesterday [Thursday].
“Today [Friday, they played in] a light session, hopefully they’re ready.
“I can’t tell you exactly.”
Paul Pogba, Axel Tuanzebe, Nemanja Matic and Luke Shaw all remain sidelined heading into Saturday’s game.
Rashford was the star of the show for Manchester United as he netted both of the Red Devils’ goals in their 2-1 win at Chelsea FC on Wednesday night in the League Cup.
The 22-year-old has been in good form in the Premier League so far this season as well, scoring five goals and making three assists in 10 top flight games for the Red Devils.
Manchester United head into Saturday’s game looking to make it four wins in a row in all competitions and secure the points to keep climbing the table and keep in the race for a top-four finish.
