[Men's Soccer] Late Goal Downs Men's Soccer
Doane Men's Soccer dropped a tough match with Jamestown (N.D.) on Saturday, 2-1. The loss leaves the Tigers a game back of the final GPAC post-season spot with a match on Sunday remaining to force a tie-break ruling.
Jamestown scored in the 15th minute to take an early lead and held the advantage into the halftime break. The Jimmies out-shot the Tigers in the opening half, 5-2.
Doane came back with a fury in the second half, out-shooting Jamestown, 10-4. The Tigers were finally able to break through in the 65th minute as Markus Pieper (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) scored the equalizer. Jamestown dropped the ball back to their keeper and as he attempted to clear out the ball, Pieper blocked the pass and chased it down to put the ball in the net.
In the 81st minute, Jamestown was able to retake the lead with a goal by Ruben Zepeda. Nishesh Yadav (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) finished with three saves for Doane while the Jimmies received three saves from Alex Hamer.
Doane will take on Presentation (S.D.) on Sunday to close out the regular season.
