[Women's Soccer] Jamestown Pulls Away from Women's Soccer

0

Doane Women's Soccer dropped a 5-1 decision at Jamestown (N.D.) on Saturday afternoon in North Dakota. The Jimmies controlled much of the game in picking up a key win in the GPAC to clinch the 3rd seed in the conference tournament.

Jamestown jumped out early, scoring in the opening minute of play. On a corner kick, Jamestown sent the ball in by the top of the box and Brianna Kulla dribbled in five yards before shooting and scoring from about 12 yards out.

Doane came back in the 14th minute as Kelly Luekens (SR/Santa Rosa, Calif.) intercepted a pass and as the Jimmies attempted to clear the ball away from Luekens, it deflected to the middle of the field right to Abby Maxwell (FR/Colbert, Wash.) and she fired a shot past the Jamestown keeper from the top of the box. Unfortunately for the Tigers, it was their only shot attempt in the first half and Jamestown would score twice to take a 3-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Jamestown added two goals as Doane was held to a shot attempt by Grace Morey (FR/Omaha, Neb.) late in the half. Jamestown out-shot the Tigers, 16-2, and were called for 11 off-sides.

Maddy Meredith (FR/Temecula, Calif.) posted six saves for the Tigers while a pair of keepers played for Jamestown.

Doane will take on Presentation (S.D.) on Sunday to close out the season.
