Will there be a Power season 7 and is there a spin-off?

POWER has aired the mid-season finale of it’s final series, but fear not as series six hasn’t completely finished just yet.

Despite it being the last ever instalment of the hit show, there’s an exciting spin-off featuring the one and only Mary J Blige. Here’s what we know about Power Book II: Ghost so far…

Is there a Power spin-off coming out?

Yes! 50 Cent has announced that Power will be back on our screens in January 2020 in an epic spin-off show to air the remaining five episodes of season six – Jan 5 is the date to put in your diary for US fans.

If the show follows suit we can expect it to air in the UK on Jan 6 and the five episodes to continue weekly every Monday until Feb 3. Perfect for filling our post-Christmas blues.

Who is in the Power spin-off cast with Mary J Blige?

RnB legend Mary J Blige revealed she had signed up to appear in Power Book II: Ghost in July during an appearance at the Television Critics’ Association.

She told the audience: “This is probably going to be the most exciting thing that will happen to me this year and I want to thank Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent for starting this conversation with me.

“I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts, I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”

However, other cast members joining her for the new series have not yet been revealed.

What will happen in the Power spin-off show?

Power Book II: Ghost is expected to focus on lead character James, as his nickname features in the title.

However, Omari’s involvement in the series is currently unknown.

Of the spin-off show, showrunner Courtney Kemp said the series would: “Continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters.”

Meanwhile, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson  announced there would be three Power spin-offs, with one starring his character Kanan, who died in season five.

“The prequel is my spin-off. I get the chance to come back. I’m dead. It’s cool, though,” he told Business Insider’s IGNITION conference in December, 2018.

“It gives the chance to show the world where all of these characters grew in so you can see the defining moments that developed their imperfections that people are attracted to at the moment. It’s exciting. It’s TGE, the golden era.”

Is there a Power season 7?

It’s bad news for fans as unfortunately season six is the final series of the show. There will not be a season 7, however season six has been split into two with the final five episodes airing weekly from Jan 5 in the US and Jan 6 in the UK.
