Chris Hughes breaks down in tears live on This Morning praising ‘strong’ girlfriend Jesy Nelson after online bullying

CHRIS Hughes broke down in tears on This Morning as he praised his “strong” girlfriend Jesy Nelson.

The Little Mix star recently released a documentary about the online abuse she has suffered since the band won X Factor in 2011 – and even revealed she attempted to take her own life because of the abuse.

And when Phillip Schofield mentioned his girlfriend’s strength in the face of such adversity, Chris got emotional.

“She rang me a few minutes after the documentary aired and she was just so overwhelmed, she just broke down on the phone to me, she’s a strong girl now…”

Chris broke off and put his head in his hands.

“She’s so strong,” he sobbed as Holly Willoughby comforted him.

Chris also discussed how he saved his brother’s life earlier this year when he went on This Morning to have a live testicular examination on TV.

That night his brother Ben found a lump and went to the doctors this next day – thankfully, Ben is now cancer-free.

“He’s good it was quite a sizeable lump so the cancer was quite big – 9mm – but he’s on the mend, he’s got a prosthetic in now so he’s got two testicles, one fake on the left side that he’s very happy with,” he said.

Chris and Jesy started dating in January, and discussing their romance, Chris said: “I think we both want it [to get married].

“I think we found each other, and we have endless respect for each other, I think that’s why our relationship works.

“We’re proper family people, we love each other’s family… I’m ready to settle down and I think she is.”

Meanwhile, it comes after Chris confessed that he fears he’ll never have children with Jesy after having an operation on his testicles.

He speaks openly about his infertility worries in BBC documentary that is set to air soon.

Chris was told he had a low sperm count after being diagnosed with varicoceles – a testicular vain condition – when he was younger.

The reality star underwent three operations to deal with the condition and he has also made the decision to freeze his sperm.

In the documentary, he revealed he “learnt things about male fertility” that “surprised” him.

He adds: “Fertility is often a subject that guys don’t consider until it might be too late, so I’m hoping this documentary will raise awareness and help men who might be struggling with these issues.”

The programme is called Me, My Brother and Our Balls and will feature his sibling, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year.

Thankfully, five months after revealing the news, Chris updated fans to reveal his brother was cancer-free.

Chris also recently told Metro.co.uk he would love to have a family with Little Mix singer Jesy, 28, revealing it is a “life ambition”.

He said: “I guess we’d be fortunate to have one child, there’s a lot of people out there who don’t have that opportunity.”
