[Men's Soccer] Herrera Rivera Selected as KCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University sophomore goalkeeper Jesus Herrera Rivera has been named the KCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today (Nov. 12).
"Chuy is a physically imposing goalkeeper with the ability to make match winning saves," Friends head coach Joe Dincecco said.
The Dodge City, Kan. native picked a good time to produce his best performance in the net, stopping a career-best seven shots to help the Falcons pull out a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the KCAC tournament quarterfinals over the Sterling College Warriors last Friday evening (Nov. 8).
The win is the 10th straight for the Falcons and puts them at 15-2-1 overall, their most victories since the 2007 season.
Herrera Rivera is tied for first in the KCAC in both goals-against-average (0.88) and shutouts (four).
The Falcons, the tourney's second seed, are set to square off with third-seeded Kansas Wesleyan University tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 13) at 2:30 pm at Stryker Complex in Wichita.
