The Mandalorian bosses offer first look at season 2 and tease spin-off film as Star Wars series hits Disney+

FILMING has begun on season two of The Mandalorian, despite the series not even being aired in the UK yet.

So far only one episode of the space western series is available to watch on Disney+ in the US, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands, and is said to end on a cliffhanger.

Unfortunately for Star Wars fans, Disney+ won’t be available in the UK until March 31, 2020.

But they’ve already had a taste of season two, thanks to creator and execut5ive producer Jon Favreau.

The Iron Man star took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal the follow up to season one is well underway.

Sharing a snap of the titular’s character’s helmet, Jon captioned the post: “Greetings from the set of #TheMandalorian season 2.”

The news comes as Disney Studios co-chairman Alan Horn teased fans about the possibility of a movie spin-off.

“The Mandalorian is already proving to be a big thing,” he told Variety.

“So, if that series proves to be so compelling that we reverse engineer it into a theatrical release, a two-hour film or whatever.”

The Mandalorian stars Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal, who plays the main character and pilots the Razorcrest gunship.

He is joined by Gina Carano, who plays ex-shocktrooper Cara Dune, Carl Weathers as Greef – a character who hires the titular Mandalorian for a specific task – and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, who voices robot IG-88.

Despite Disney+ keeping the plot relatively secret, a synopsis for the show reads: “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe.

“The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
