Letter: It’s cold at nights — open gyms, churches to the homeless

We cannot pretend the
homeless do not exist

As many of us during the holidays spend time in our cozy homes, we forget about those who spend sleepless nights out on the streets.

Our cities are filled with homeless people sleeping on the streets. We tend to pretend as if they do not exist and our surrounding cities tend to do the same.

We need to take care of our homeless people. These nights are cold. Let’s open our school gyms, our churches, our community centers for them. Let’s find resources that can help them get back on their feet.

These people are human too; they should not have to worry about where they’re going to sleep or have to worry about being able to purchase a meal.

Let’s put ourselves in their shoes. I know we would all want some sort of help, especially a place for us to stay at night.
