A SICK mum who hurled her baby at a police officer “thrived on violence” and should have been caged, the tot’s gran says.
Kirsty Bearfield, 24, smirked as she dodged a jail sentence despite causing the detective who caught the child a life-changing neck injury.
The bare-knuckle boxer used the baby, then aged just one, as a missile after flying into a rage in front of her ex Andrew Jamieson and his mum Nicole.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she recalled how Bearfield threw the tot “3ft through the air” after police told her Andrew would be taking the baby and their older child home.
Nicola added: “It was like slow motion. Everyone said oh my god I immediately said ‘Is he all right?’
“She did not even look where he was going to land.
“It was one of those moments you block from your mind because it is so traumatic.”
‘POISON IVY’
Nicole, who let Bearfield stay in her home after her first child was born, revealed how the mum “thrived on violence” as she branded her “poison ivy”.
She said: “I thought she would get three years for what she did to that poor policewoman. She is pure evil.
“My son feels very let down by the authorities. He is a shadow of his former self. She sucks everything from you. She thrives on violence.
“I have no words for what happened at court. I think children should be with their mum – but she is cold and callous and void of all emotion.”
‘ROBBED OF BEING A MUM’
Hull Crown Court heard how Bearfield had taken her older child to Hull Royal Infirmary with what was feared to be a “non-accidental” injury, although it was later ruled not suspicious.
A social worker decided both children should be removed from her care to stay with their father that night.
But raging Bearfield threw the baby at Detective Constable Kirsty Burnett, who managed to catch the 30lb tot without him being injured.
But she yanked her head back so the baby wouldn’t hit her face – with the injury was so severe she had to quit her job.
She also said it “robbed her of being a mother” as she could not hug her own daughter.
BOXER AVOIDS JAIL
The officer added: “It’s heartbreaking as a mother when your child needs comfort and they are asking to be picked up and you have to turn them down.
“This is all due to Kirsty Bearfield.”
Bearfield, who has previous convictions for battery, was sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for 18 months after admitting inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Her ex Andrew, 26, has now slammed the soft sentence as he demanded she be jailed over the horror.
The dad avoided jail himself in 2016 after he chased Bearfield up the stairs and punched her in the face in front of their baby son.
He said: “I was stunned. The kids would have had a lot better life is she had been sent down.”
