[Women's Basketball] Point Falls on the Road in North Carolina against the Cavaliers

Black Mountain, N.C. – The third quarter did the Lady Skyhawks in as Point fell to the Cavaliers of Montreat College 81-72 in a conference match in North Carolina. The Skyhawks started the first quarter with a slim 6-4 lead with 3 minutes gone. With 3:52 left in the quarter, Montreat turned the tide in their favor and led by one, 14-13. However, Nicole Izuagie (SO/Sandy Springs, Ga.) sank a 3 point shot to recapture the lead 16-14, and the visitors held that lead at the end of the quarter. Starting the second quarter the Cavaliers tied it up twice after only 2 minutes of play, the second one at 18-18. The home team gained a short-lived lead over the Skyhawks, but Point was able to regain control to extend their lead to 34-31 going into halftime. Coming out of the locker room, Montreat outscored the Skyhawks 29-12 and snatched the lead by the end of the third quarter, 60-46. In the final quarter, the Cavaliers stretched their lead by 19 points twice. However, the Skyhawks battled back and were able to cut the lead down to 9 points by the final buzzer resulting in a final score of 81-72. This loss dropped the Skyhawks' record to 3-5 in conference and 6-5 for the season.
