0

The Hunger Games became a phenomenon unlike anything we've seen before. What started as a dystopian YA book series turned into a multimedia franchise with millions of fans from around the globe. Besides, it is still one of the best YA series in history.

Likewise, it brought us some amazing characters. Each of them had their own backstory, motivations, and goals, just like characters you would find in any Dungeons & Dragons game. Here is The Hunger Games: D&D Alignments Of The Main Characters.

10 Cinna: Neutral Good

Cinna was Katniss and Peeta's stylist who designed their costumes for all of their appearances while they were in the Capitol. Katniss and Cinna developed a kind of a bond built on the similarities of their views, so when he was murdered right in front of Katniss a moment before she was released onto the arena of the 75th Hunger Games, her spirit was severely damaged.

Cinna is a Neutral Good character. He protects those he cares about (Katniss, for example), but he also secretly believes that President Snow's regime should end. This is why he creates provocative outfits for Katniss, such as her wedding dress that turned into a mockingjay ensemble.

9 President Coriolanus Snow: Neutral Evil

Undoubtedly the main villain of the series, President Coriolanus Snow does everything he can to kill the rebellion and remain the only powerful person in Panem. Unfortunately for him, there are some things he can't control.

President Snow is a Neutral Evil who might appear as Chaotic Evil sometimes. He is governed only by his own desires and has done unspeakable things and continues doing them.

8 Johanna Mason: Chaotic Neutral

Johanna Mason was the only female victor from District 7 at the time of the 3rd Quarter Quell, so she had to be the one to go in back again. Despite Johanna's angry reaction to everyone and everything, she realizes that she needs to act in a certain way and do certain things if she wants to survive.

Johanna is a Chaotic Neutral character. She is out for herself, but she consciously puts her life on the line to help Katniss and the rebellion and get out of the Hunger Games. She might be straightforward and even rude, but her actions are somewhat justified by the harsh circumstances that she found herself in.

7 Finnick Odair: Neutral Good

Finnick Odair was a victor from District 4 who actively helped Katniss during the 75th Hunger Games and then during their stay with the rebellious District 13. Even though he was picked with his future wife Annie Cresta for the 3rd Quarter Quell, his mentor and mother-figure Mags volunteered to go instead of her.

Finnick is a Neutral Good character. He was forced into prostitution after winning the Hunger Games and didn't decline only because he knew that if he would, someone he loves would be killed. He supports the rebellion and joins Katniss and Peeta to protect them during the Games.

6 Primrose Everdeen: Lawful Good

Primrose Everdeen was the younger sister of Katniss who, unlike Katniss, is very similar and close to their mother. Prim was Katniss' main motivation for staying alive in the Hunger Games and then joining the rebellion to end Snow's regime. Unfortunately, Prim was killed before the rebellion ended, which caused Katniss to become depressed.

Prim is a Lawful Good character. She is very kind and wants to help others with anything she can. Prim also knows how to treat people with various medicinal herbs. She was actually the one reaped for the 74th Hunger Games, but her older sister volunteered to go instead of her.

5 Effie Trinket: True Neutral

Effie Trinket was the escort of the District 12 tributes who accompanied Katniss and Peeta everywhere they had to go. Despite being introduced as a standard citizen of the Capitol, she gradually grows emotionally, leading to her joining the rebellion after realizing all the mistakes made by the Capitol.

Effie is a True Neutral character. She doesn't seem to care much about the people around her, but she actually grows attached to Katniss and Peeta as well as a few others. You could even argue that her character undergoes the biggest change from the beginning to the end of the books and movies.

4 Haymitch Abernathy: Chaotic Neutral

Haymitch Abernathy was the only living District 12 victor when Katniss and Peeta were reaped. He is first seen as a constantly drunk middle-aged man who has lost faith in himself and doesn't care about life anymore. However, as the plot progresses, Haymitch develops a bond with Katniss and Peeta which even leads him to give up alcohol for certain periods of time to mentor them.

Haymitch is a Chaotic Neutral character. His family was killed after he pulled a stunt on the arena which led him to win the Hunger Games, so he had virtually nothing to lose. All of the tributes he had been mentoring were always killed until Katniss and Peeta were reaped. He then secretly joined the rebellion and was instrumental in orchestrating it during the 75th Hunger Games and after that.

3 Gale Hawthorne: Lawful Good

Gale Hawthorne was Katniss' best friend and hunting partner whom she knew from a very young age. They were even sometimes thought of as siblings thanks to the similarities in appearance. Throughout the series, Katniss is torn between Peeta and Gale. She recognizes that Peeta is the one who would keep her fiery personality gentle, but Gale is the one she has known longer and has a better connection with.

Gale is a Lawful Good character. From the very beginning, he talks about how he wants to kill President Snow and end the regime. He protects his own family and Katniss', staying behind when she volunteers to go to the Hunger Games instead of Prim. However, Gale is also the reason why Prim dies in the first place, which caused Katniss to cut him out of his life entirely.

2 Peeta Mellark: Chaotic Good

Peeta Mellark was the male tribute from District 12 in the 74th Hunger Games. Despite having older brothers, none of them volunteered instead of him as Katniss did for Prim. Peeta has been in love with Katniss from the age of 5, but confesses his feelings only after being reaped alongside her which then leads them to play out a fake romance on the arena to survive.

Peeta is a Chaotic Good character. He is very compassionate and understanding, which might make him seem weak when he is in fact an extremely strong having worked in the bakery with heavy flour packages. When Katniss reveals to him that she faked her feelings for him, he is hurt, but they eventually become friends and, later on, real lovers.

1 Katniss Everdeen: Chaotic Neutral

Katniss Everdeen is the main protagonist of the series who is a District 12 tribute for the 74th Hunger Games. Katniss is the one who set off a chain of events that led to the rebellion overpowering the Capitol and ending President Snow's bloody and unfair regime.

Katniss is a Chaotic Neutral character. Like Haymitch and Johanna, she prefers being alone, but she soon realizes that it's better to have allies no matter what kind of situation you are in. Katniss eventually becomes the symbol of the rebellion and is instrumental in its success, even though she doesn't always want to be involved.
