'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Same-Sex Kiss Cut Out in Singapore

The scene featuring the first same-sex in the Star Wars franchise history has been cut out of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Singapore, Deadline has confirmed.

A spokesperson for Singapore’s media authority, the Infocomm Media Development Authority, told the BBC that the scene was removed so that it would keep a PG-13 rating.

It is unclear what the rating would have been if the scene stayed in the movie.

In Singapore, gay sex is illegal and the government does not recognize same-sex marriage.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out in theaters now.
