DEONTAY WILDER and Tyson Fury are likely to have a trilogy of fights due to a clause added to their February rematch.

The American WBC champ and the Gypsy King step back in the ring on February 22 – 14 months after their epic draw in Los Angeles.

Boxing fans were hoping the winner of their heavyweight showdown will take on Brit champion Anthony Joshua.

But it appears the long-awaited matchup will continue after promoter Frank Warren confirmed the loser of their February bout will have the option of a third fight.

Revealed by talkSPORT’s Adam Catterall, Warren said: “The loser of #WilderFury2 on Feb 22nd has the option to activate a 3rd fight.”

He then suggested AJ doesn’t want to fight Fury despite Warren’s approach for an all-British showdown.

Warren added: “We tried to make the fight and all they spoke about was percentage splits.”

AJ needs Wilder’s WBC belt in order to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

He is already faced with the prospect of vacating one of his belts after he was ordered to agree world title defences against Kubrat Pulev AND Oleksandr Usyk.

And Warren believes Joshua should ditch his belts if he wants to secure a blockbuster bust-up against Fury or Wilder.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Warren said: “If I was Anthony Joshua I wouldn’t fight again until we know the winner of this fight [between Wilder and Fury] – and then make them make the fight.

“I’d let them strip me of my titles, and not fight anybody until the big one.”
